Australia’s largest visual arts festival today launched its much awaited poster inspiring all South Australian’s to ‘love art’. Featuring a selection of tools of the trade used by painters, sculptors, photographers and digital media artists to name a few, this year’s image encompasses the diversity and richness of the visual arts community.
Launched at 109 Hindley Street by designer and South Australian of the year for Arts Khai Liew to a full house of media, sponsors and supporters in the company of a selection of this year’s exhibiting artists and their work; Khai Liew acknowledged ‘the importance of the SALA festival as a heightened platform for the state’s visual artists of all persuasions to engage a much wider audience from within the state and beyond in a festival atmosphere. As artists, we love it, and there is every reason to participate and celebrate’.
With 3018 artists exhibiting across 515 venues throughout the state last year, SALA is expecting to continue the growth and relevance of the festival as a significant and much loved event that encourages and develops local artists, local communities and visual arts culture.

For 23 days audiences will be able to participate in diverse, thought provoking, colourful, and inspiring exhibitions; participate in open studios, guided walking and cycling tours with local celebrities and guests, developmental workshops, forums and events such as the Moving Image Project and the concluding event SALA on Sale, on King William Rd, Unley and it’s all completely free.
