The AWEA is preparing a submission to the government on these papers but need the input from our members to do so. could you please forward your comments to Helen Page, AWEA coordinator by Friday 27th of August enabling us to present a unified West End submission by the following Friday. We look forward to your comments on these important changes to the Liquor Licencing Act and the Code of practice, which could have significant positive outcomes for our precinct if we make our voice heard.
The South Australia Government is interested in hearing the views of stakeholders, organisations and citizens in relation to two areas:
How best to deal with alcohol-related crime and antisocial behaviour in and around licensed premises, particularly around entertainment areas; and, what kinds of mechanisms should be contained in a new Code of Practice for licensees to promote responsible attitudes in relation to the promotion, sale and consumption of alcohol.
The Office of the Liquor and Gambling Commissioner has developed two discussion papers setting out proposals to address these issues.
- ‘A Safer Night Out’ Review of the Liquor Licensing Act 1997 to address some elements of alcohol-related crime and antisocial behaviour in and around licensed premises
- Review of the Code of Practice for licensed premises
