Adelaide’s Home for Indie Cinema & Emerging Filmmakers
Located in the heart of Adelaide’s West End Creative Precinct, The Mercury is your local independent cinema and a vital hub for South Australian screen culture. Since its founding in 1974 as the Media Resource Centre, The Mercury has championed both world cinema and emerging Australian filmmakers through weekly screenings and a dedicated film industry development program.
From international festival favourites to local gems, our curated film program offers something for every cinephile and cinema goer. Alongside screenings, The Mercury plays a key role in supporting the next generation of screen talent in South Australia.
The venue is also available for hire, featuring two cinemas — the 186-seat Mercury and the more intimate 36-seat Iris — along with versatile foyer spaces. Ideal for film screenings, launches, performances, conferences, fundraisers, and private events, each hire includes a professional projectionist and experienced front-of-house staff to ensure a smooth and memorable experience.
