The Adelaide West End Association will be holding it’s Annual General Meeting and winter networking event at West Franklin Display Suite on the corner of Franklin and Morphett Streets, from 6pm on Monday 21st August 2017.
The AGM will be followed by networking and guest presentations from the Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Martin Haese and Greg Mackie OAM
Greg Mackie OAM spent 23 years as co-proprietor of Imprints Booksellers in the heart of Hindley Street. A co-founder and former President of the Adelaide West End Association he was elected to Adelaide City Council 2000-03 and went on to lead Arts SA for former Premier and Arts Minister Mike Rann, before becoming Deputy CEO, Cultural Development in the Premier’s Department. It was Greg’s arts-led urban renewal leadership that saw Arts SA and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra relocate to Hindley Street. Awarded an OAM in 2002 for services to the arts, in particular as founder of the Adelaide Festival of Ideas, in 2007 Greg was also awarded the national ABaF Dame Elizabeth Murdoch Award for Cultural Leadership and in 2015 the inaugural Bettison and James Foundation Award for his services to culture. Greg is currently CEO of the History Trust of South Australia and is Chair of the Adelaide Festival of Ideas, which he is brining to the West End of Adelaide from 2018.
We are also looking for new committee members for 2017-18. This involves attending monthly meetings (2hrs) and other consultations as required, representing your business sector and a passion for the west end. Committee members must be financial members of the AWEA Inc.
