The 2017-18 Executive Committee Members were elected at the Adelaide West End Association at the AGM on 21st August 2017 and office bearers will be determined at a committee meeting on Wed 30th Augtus 2017.
Committee Members volunteer their time, expertise and passion to the West End community and are all members of the Adelaide West End Association.
The Committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month at different locations throughout the precinct. If you would like to host or attend a meeting get in touch.

PRESIDENT – Andrew Wallace – University of South Australia 2009
Phone: 0400 489 079 – Email: andrew.wallace@unisa.edu.au Andrew is a lecturer in Interior Architecture and Sustainable Design at UniSA.He has practiced as a designer in Adelaide, Sydney and London since 1984 and has been responsible for the design and delivery of projects ranging in scale from small consumer products to developing a design strategy for the London Underground system.
Andrew has a 20 year involvement in the music industry in Sydney and Adelaide in his capacity as jazz dance dj and was a formative influence in establishing the jazz and latin dance scene in both cities. In his capacity as an academic Andrew’s particular research interests are in sustainability, he is a pioneer of sustainable interior design and of late has turned his interest to communities of all scales, from workplace communities to precincts such as the West End of Adelaide. He continues to provoke discussion in regards to urban redevelopment in the city through both his teaching and research work and speaks nationally on the topic of sustainability and the west end.
Andrew has been a member of the AWEA Executive committee since 2008, and previously as President between 2010-2014.
VICE PRESIDENT – Geoff Barclay – Unison Housing 2014
Geoff has been involved with the local precinct since July 2012 with the delivery of the multi award winning UNO Apartments in Waymouth Street. This significant world first project has demonstrated the effectiveness of mixed tenure developments and the importance of Placemaking & Place Management for successful future projects in the Adelaide CBD and particularly the West End and how they impact on the local community.
Geoff has extensive Senior Property & Business Development Management experience spanning over 10 years with diverse property portfolios including: Residential, Commercial, Community Housing, Strata & Community Corporations & Trustee Properties. With a strong passion for people & place Geoff prides himself on delivering outstanding customer & client service across the Private, Government & Not for Profit sectors.
Unison is about people, places, partnerships and practice. Felicity Sando – Mulloway Studio 2009

She brings to the AWEA her experience in management and working on urban, community, interpretive, cultural and historic design projects both locally, interstate and overseas. She is also an active participant in teaching architecture at University with a particular focus on adaptive re-use and interpretation of cultural and historic sites.
Together with Mulloway Studio, who have been resident in the West End since 2000, she takes a keen interest in developing Adelaide’s West End as a creative, active and vital community.

Joyce is the co-owner of 101 Hindley Street which currently accommodates Flightpath Architects, who have been in the West End since 1999, and DEW café and co-working space. Joyce is the Business Development Manager for Flightpath Architects as well as actively working with Renew Adelaide to provide start ups for small businesses, the most recent of which is DEW (Drink. Eat. Work.). Joyce’s background is in Health Sciences where she has been a Clinical Practitioner, an Academic, as a Senior Lecturer at UniSA and as a small business owner, where she has successfully managed her own small business for 25 years.
Joyce brings to the AWEA her skills in Small Business Management, Administration, Education and Business Development. Joyce has a keen interest in the positive and progressive activation of Hindley Street and the West End and connecting businesses with each other and with the street, to promote an active, vibrant and creative community, all year round.
Tony Scrivener – Grand Chancellor Hotels 2017
Tony Scrivener is the current General Manager Adelaide for Grand Chancellor, overseeing the Hotel Grand Chancellor hotels within Adelaide. An award winning hotelier with more than 20 years hospitality experience has seen Tony work across Australia and overseas in leading small and large luxury hotel brands. In addition to running hotels, Tony also worked as a senior manager in two award winning hotel divisions in the corporate office. This role saw Tony responsible for acquisitions and construction, as well as overseeing the operations of multiple hotels, restaurants, pubs and function centres, throughout capital and regional areas around Australia.
Association wise, Tony is a member of CIPS (Chartered institute of Procurement Specialists) and prior to his relocation to Adelaide was an Advisory Board Member of the William Angliss Institute of TAFE. Tony now sits on the Adelaide West End Association Executive Committee and is a member of a number of other reference groups.

Mike Mattler – Local Business Group PL 2017
Mike comes to the AWEA as a passionate, determined, and hands-on leader within the Retail and Enterprise spheres, most recently with Telstra as a Service Management Executive. With the support of his partner, he’s newly launched the local business group PL, which focuses on uniquely engaging with local industry and community to create bespoke partnerships within business across all industry and leveraging all that is great about South Australia.
Mike has provided ongoing, extensive consultation, and performed business relationship management, with the following clientele: Accolade Wines, Boart Longyear, COBHAM, Codan Limited, Elders Rural Services, HAMB Systems, Mitsubishi Motors Australia, People’s Choice Credit Union and Yalumba Wines.

Tim Swaine – Swaine Legal
Tim Swaine is Principal of Swaine Legal, a boutique Adelaide CBD commercial law firm. Tim has a passion for liquor licensing, gaming and hospitality. He has significant experience advising owners of late night venues and other licensed premises on a range of issues regarding their licences and other business-related matters including buying, selling and leasing licensed premises and employment issues.
Tim is also the President of the Late Night Venue Association of SA Inc. The LNVASA is the representative body for South Australian businesses operating late night licensed venues, being venues that trade after midnight. LNVASA members are predominantly located in Adelaide’s West End, particularly on Hindley Street. The LNVASA provides a collective industry voice by championing the causes of its members and it promotes, protects and develops the interests of its members at state and local government levels and via media channels.

Helen joined the AWEA as Coordinator in Dec 2009. Helen manages member services, events, social media, website, accounts, projects, customer liason and general administration of the association. Helen is the Owner/Operator at Helen Page Photography (People, Places and Commercial Photography) and a board member & company secretary of Music SA. Helen ran and co-owned JL Music Publishing from 2009 -June 2015 and is continues as a Music Licensing Consultant. Helen has been working in the City of Adelaide since 1985 and has great passion for the city, particularly the West End.
Helen has a background in Business & Event Licensing, the Music Industry, Member Services, Copyright Management, Event Management, Small Business Management, Marketing and Promotions, Account Management and is a professional Photographer.
Helen has worked in the music industry in South Australia for over 18 years, initially working for with APRA/AMCOS in writer services and later Business and Event Licensing area servicing SA/NT . Helen’s passion for developing opportunities for SA musicians lead her co-founding the JL MUSIC GROUP PL in 2009, consisting of JL Music Publishing and JL Music Licensing, managing and administering the worldwide copyrights of over 70 songwriters.
